A Nikon D40 bargain

Seems to me that the Nikon D40 on offer at Currys, complete with additional 55-200mm zoom, at £399, is something of a bargain.

It's being advertised in the national press today.

I was looking at it in Currys yesterday, and thinking exactly the same thing.

It's offered at £349 99 at Jessops!
I bought a Canon Powershot A240 from Amazon for £120 when major suppliers were asking as much as £210 for the same camera. What a strange world we live in.

I don't think the Jessops offer includes the additional 55-200mm zoom.

I note thet the new D40X is now 10.2 megapixels.

I think I'd rather have the additional zoom lens, especially as it's £430 for the D40X body alone....:-)

My Minolta E203 2MP digital camera produces superb 10x8 prints and I acquired it in 2002 or 2003.

The lens is just, if not more so, as important as the megapixels on offer.

Stuartli, You are right to draw attention to the lens quality which gets regularly overlooked in the write ups in PC magazines.
Anyone looking to spend serious money on a digital camera should buy an Amateur Photographer magazine where the specification and review is meaningful.

The Nikon D40 is, indeed, on offer at around £350 at most outlets - it's the additional zoom lens that adds to the value.

This lens is being offered at between £163 and £196 on its own...:-)

This offer is too good to be true.
I am getting 'out of stock' on line and at 9 different branches in my area. Offer ends on Wednesday. Pity!
