mobile phone rejection

  robgf 17:49 22 Dec 2009

When using my PAYG vodaphone mobile phone lately, just to check it is still working (as I rarely use it).
Sometimes it connects, but most times it beeps and does nothing. Checking for the balance (about £10), or for the number, brings "rejected" on the screen. Any ideas?
p.s it is pretty old, perhaps 8 years.

Have you checked the sim card is seated correctly and that the contacts are clean?

If It's not been used for along time, then Vodafone may have blocked the phone, it happened to me. You will need to contact Vodafone to get the phone re-instated.

..its probably been blocked. With Vodafone PAYG you need to make at least one call or text every 6 months to keep it working.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
I tried cleaning the sim card contacts and reseating, but it made no difference.
The battery only holds a charge for 4-5 days (its age), even when the phone is off. So I think I will get a new phone, a quick look round shows you can pick one up for £5 - £10, plus £10 calls.
Many thanks for your help. :)
