LCD TV screen problem

Hi - I have a Samsung LCD TV (model LE26R4) which is now almost 2 years old. After I'd had it for about 2 months it started to get a green shimmer down the left half of the screen (the right half was fine) which affected the picture quality for a while and then seemed to go away. I reported it under warranty but was told it was just the set warming up as I had turned the power off and should have left it on stand-by.
The problem happened a number of times (intermittently) but always seemed to clear up after about half and hour and only when the power had been turned off. In the last few weeks it is happening frequently and even if the set is switched on from stand-by. The green shimmer comes across the entire left side of the screen then fades to a narrow band before coming back again across the entire half of the screen.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to get it rectified.
