Importing photos to Nero

I am trying to create a DVD photo slide show using Nero.

The photos are all on my HD and are OK as viewed on any JPG viewer.

As soon as I import them into the Nero project ready for burning they change in quality. Any line other than a vertical or horizontal one is converted to a series of dashes. The burned product also has this effect. Has this something to do with aliasing? Do I need to change the resolution of the photos to suit the Nero program?
Any other ideas please?

Are you using Nero Vision?

Thanks for replying.

Yes, I am using Nero vision.

I have just tried two other DVD burning programs and get the same effect.

The problem seems to be associated with my .jpg files rather than the burning software.

Displaying the files from my HD on my screen I do notice that the effect is present at some zoom levels lower than 100%

To eliminate the possibility of post processing effects I have now imported to Nero directly from the camera. The problem is still there. All diagonals are shown as jagged lines.
