Humax Foxsat PVR

Hope someone can help? Copied a TV recording down to a USB Drive - these files have extensions .hmt, .ts and .nts. This is owing to the fact that I am running out of space on the hard drive. I would like to play the "copied" TV program on my PC (Vista & XP). Is there any way that this can be done as the file extensions aren't recognised? Any program or conversion software around or can you point me in the right direction? regards

Tried VideoLAN

Some technical info - Quote:

"The HMT file type is primarily associated with 'HighMAT' by Microsoft Corporation. HighMAT is a way for media formats like JPG, MP3, WMA, WMV and MPEG-4 to be organized and published on a CD. DVD support is planned. [June 2007: Microsoft has discontinued development on the HighMAT technology. Therefore, the HighMAT extension to the Microsoft Windows XP CD Writing Wizard is no longer offered by using Windows Update.]"

The NTS file is an index of all the PICTURE elements in the .TS file.

The TS file type is primarily associated with TS:Transport Stream (MPEG-2 Video Stream) VOB files you find on a DVD are MPEG2-PS files. Another format called Transport Stream (TS) was designed for streaming MPEG videos through such channels. VideoLAN software can handle these streams. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 47 40 , ASCII: [email protected] Related links: VideoLAN

VLC player (from the Videolanlink above) will play the ts files, the other files contain the information of program name, date and time recorded these are for the HUmax menu system.

Thanks for the responses, and you are quite right about the VLC Player. there any "conversion" software around that will convert these files so that once on a a DVD disc, they can be read on a "normal" DVD player? Once again thanks, at least I can "remove" them from the Humax to release space, and then be able to play them at a later date regards
