Hitting the right spot-slideshow assembly

In assembling a show- [Using DVDPixPlay - but any other similar I guess]
I include a selection of music/audio effect tracks.
Doing the music bit is easy, however sometimes I wish to place a specific clip in a precise position across a couple of slides I find I have resort to blunt pencil and scrap paper to work out the combined running time of slide and transitions up to the start of the sequence.
A very tedious and brain aching process.

Here is an example- This show is about Iceland. At slide 120 through to 133 we are at the site of a Geyser. Here I want to cut the music and introduce gurgling water and the whoosh of the spout and then back to gurgling.
[These clips I have]

Is there an easier way than the one I have described?

I use DVDPixPLay
If you use you use ProShow Gold - describe please how it over comes my problem.

Jack this is something I've never attempted, but in ProShow you can assign sound tracks to individual slides as well as the show. Maybe worth the trial download
