Ford car radio on the blink

Wife's Focus came with a CD6000 radio + CD player. Couple of days ago it stopped receiving radio signals although the CD player still works. I assumed the aerial connector had fallen out of the back, but on removal it all seems securely attached. Anyone recommend a sensibly priced diagnosis / repair in the Cambridge area? I know if I go to Ford it will cost me more than going to Argos and buying the nearest equivalent Sony model.

How old is the Focus as it could still be under warranty?

The 6000 is an excellent unit and well worth retaining; if it's not under warranty a good auto electrician or car radio specialist outlet will probably prove your best bet.

May 2002 so no warranty.

Just had an email from a place in the midlands saying it's a common fault with them and costs about £75 to fix. Think I'll have it done (locally if I can) since we'll be selling the car in 18 months or so and it would look better if it has the functioning original unit.
