editing freeview from your hard drive

if i have saved a recording from a freeview channel to my hard drive am i aloud to edit it and if so how. the programme that came with the usb freeview device is not very good and creator 8 didnt work. i taped a good few hours of life in the undergrowth in mpeg 2 formatt

I think you may be infringing the copyright if you start editing tv programs.

All TV programs are copywrited therefore it is illegal to record them.

However you can buy numerous machines and various media to do just that.

It may be illegal, but most of us record programmes for later viewing on either VHS, (or more recently a hard disc recorder).

This has gone on for about 29 years, and never a complaint from the broadcasters. Editing is quite a different matter.
