Dropouts on DVD recorder but TV is OK

I have a Panasonic freeview TV which receives perfectly on all channels.
Just bought a Panasonic DVD recorder but I get intermittent dropouts on ITV channels.
Fitted new high gain aerial but no difference, tried an attenuator but no difference.
Signal strength and quality is at maximum, even with 20db attenuator strength only drops to 90%.
I live about 8 miles from Winter Hill-direct line of sight.
Does anybody know what I can do next??

Take a look at click here and see if the drop outs all occur on the same Multiplex. Note ITV use much higher compression than the Beeb. I can receive ITV without a problem from Winter Hill and I'm on the West Wirral some 50 miles away.

Can you update the firmware in the Panasonic recorder?

Yes, you are correct, everything that has dropouts is on multiplex 2, everything else is fine.
The recorder is brand new and has the latest firmware
