Chinese phone in UK not allowing certain apps

My mum brought a phone in china ans has brought it home. It won't allow play store or snapchat..Is it useless

As is yes, there are processes within Android that can allow the Play store but that involves a process which can brick the handset if done incorrectly which is why I wouldn't recommend it.

Usually if a handset doesn't have the Play Store on it there is an alternative app source.

It may not have Snapchat however on the alternative store.
