Why do we let them get away with poor support?

I have had issues with poor product support, product defects, etc, recently with EarthLink, Call Wave "Internet Answering Machine", and now Adobe. As consumers, we usually stand up for our rights. But internet related companies hide behind outsourced customer non-support, and no-service. Earthlink offers a service that doesn't work, and they won't fix it. Call Wave "double bills" (and the service still doesn't work) and Adobe can offer a 30 day trial that ends in 3 hours if you didn't make an adjustment in Windows XP before you download it (which they neglect to tell you about). They make us "need" their products and services to run our own businesses and leave us hanging. Who's watching our backs?
