There are so many good motherboards available that your question is difficult to answer. click here for one possibility. For what it's worth, I have always had good experiences with Gigabyte boards, but that amounts to a board that provides the desired features for a respectable/affordable price and just plain works, which is all that you can ask of them.

I am also in the market for a new board, and have been checking everything! The new x38 chipsets use the new PCI Expresss 2 system, so if you are thinking of buying the 8800gt or ATI 3870 you will get double the bandwith. The P35 chipset does not have this, also the newer chipset uses 2X16 graphics card crossfire slots so by buying the ATI graphics you can upgrade at a later date, i have plumped for the Asus P5E with the ATi 3850 or 3870 but am still checking! and don't forget your power supply upgrade!
Good Luck!
