Which laptop for £400

  Lozi 15:07 02 Feb 2007

OH who is an uber gamer on our desktop has agreed I can have a laptop just for me.

I want to be able to surf the web, write letters emails, store photos and maybe watch DVD's. (I am fed up with losing stuff when his pc crashes).

OH says we can get wireless router so I can use the laptop while he is gaming.

When I surf I would also like the pages to load quickly as I am a bit impatient.

Also I need advice about XP, Vista or Media, which is best for my needs?

I welcome all your suggestions, many thanks.

This Toshiba from PC World sounds good, if you can manage £500.

Plus you can collect it right away, and has a full 12 month warranty; unlike the Dell which has only 3 months, unless you pay extra!!.

I read in another PC magazine, who checked with the DTI, an it was confirmed this practice by Dell is legal.

Something else for you to consider from Tesco, at £400.

Gateway have a good reputation for their notebooks.
