Which Landline Telephone?

  cara 21:34 06 Apr 2004

In the process of replacing my landline, very reluctantly as I bought it for an absolute bargain price - but it has developed a fault. (I currently have an NTL D8000)

Now this land line phone is very 'mobile like' but in the short space of time I am amazed at how technology has changed on landlines, incl. features like downloading sim card info from mobiles, and text messaging etc.

Does anybody love their phone enough to recommend it? Any ideas please.

but I like my home office portable phones. We have four of these and they do the job very well. They look good too.

Thank you. A consideration.

Also quite like the BT Diverse 5410. Does anyone have that particular model?

I ordered the BT Diverse 5110 for work (doesn't have sms) which always has excellent quality crystal clear calls. (Not bad as it has to cope with a computer hall environment, and large EMC units)click here £99 for 3

The Argos catalogue or a phone specialist will provide a range of possible choices - Argos is likely to be one of the cheapest suppliers.

I recently bought the BT Quartet 1500 from Argos for £39.75. It's a bog standard cordless phone/answerphone, with no sms/text messaging - I use my mobile for that stuff. I'd certainly recommend it. It's also available with two or three handsets, if you want extra.

Thank you for replies.

I have decided to go for something along the lines of the BT 5410 as I quite like the idea of SMS from my landline.

Shops in my area are decidedly lacking in the higher end of the market in landlines - any number of mobiles though.

More research first though! Thank goodness for the internet!

I was in my local Argos yesterday and the BT 5100 Diverse was on offer at £69.99 but because it was of no interest I didn't look at the specifications.

As Stuartli as suggested, why not look in the Argos catalogue, or even the Index one. Remember their purchases come with a 16 day refund, so if the item doesn't come up to expectations, then return it for a refund as per terms and conditions.

Viking usually have a good range, but can be a little expensive at times, unless you use their special offer advantages.
