What Laptop to buy with £800-£1000???

Does anybody have any suggestions on a good laptop to buy between £800-£1000?

I want something with a Firewire port for my iPod, at least 40GB, 512MB RAM and at least 2.6 processor speed.

What kind of processor is best? Celeron? Intel P4? Athlon? Bearing in mind that the laptop will be plugged into the mains 95% of the time so battery life aint too important.

The models I have seen include Multivision Solus, Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo and Acer Aspire 1356 - anyone had any experience of these?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I just bought a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo from Comet for £699. Similar spec but with a 2.4GHz Celeron.

More than happy with it!
