What laptop to buy?

Hi internet,

I'm not too tech savvy and looking to buy a new laptop. There seems to be a lot of choice and I was hoping somebody could kindly recommend one to suit my requirements. I would like it for the following:

  • To digitalise my CD collection: i.e. something that will rip CD's quick. I have been told I could do this with an external disk drive so open to this. Also could do with enough space to hold plenty of music.

  • Browse the web - what I would use it for day to day.

  • Photographs - store photographs and upload to a photo blog

  • Stream television and movies - I don't have a tv and so will use the laptop

  • I'm not sure what size but a 14 inch screen looked about right to me. I don't want a netbook but also something not too big and clunky and relatively portable.

  • I think I prefer a laptop to tablet but again open to ideas

  • My budget is around £350- £500

Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Rob

This Acer with 14" screen is just above your budget, but has an Intel i5 processor. This would be useful if you are streaming TV and movies, although that also depends upon the speed of your internet connection.
