web cam v online phone

Which is better- web cam or online phone eg. skype?
Also, is there a free online phone system which uses a cordless phone so that you do not have to sit at your PC during the call?

A webcam is used to send pictures of yourself during a link up with another user.

Skype is a means of holding a conversation in a similar manner to a phone call but, if you link up with other Skype users, free of charge.

Skype can be used with a webcam (it now offers its own version as well) which is known as video conferencing.

You can also hold Skype conferencing with other Skype users - it's available from the control panel.

Any VoIP system that will run with Broadband phones can be run with an adapter or router to any standard type of telephone.

For example SipPhone click here look at the adapters and routers. Any type of regular telephone can be plugged into them.

Also note that Gizmo calling rates to the USA are now only 1cent per minute - that's less then half the Skype rate to the USA.
