Upgrade path

I have a pc at the moment as follows:

Asrock G31 M-S Pentium E6300 4 Gb Corsair Pc2 6400 Ram Gtx 650 Ti Cosmos 2 case

I play World of Tanks and would like to upgrade for better performance/graphics.

WWhich route do I take? CPU MObo and memory or better GPU?

Budget around £300

Your weakest link at the moment is the Graphics Card click here for a comparison so personally I would start there, then change both the motherboard and CPU later.

um...i think you should change your CPU and motherboard first?

i think your display card is still enough for world of tanks..

I would suggest upgrade the motherboard, CPU and RAM first, then save for a better graphics card.

Further to the above, I made my suggestion because your existing CPU is likely to limit the performance benefit of a new graphics card.

Thanks so far for the prompt answers. In order to keep costs to the minimum I have ordered the newly released:

Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 (and intend to overclock it)

I intend to order:

ASUS Z97 A motherboard Corsair CMY8GX3M2A1600C9R Vengeance Pro Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 ARCTIC Cooling Freezer 13 CPU Cooler

I will stay with my GTX 650 Ti for the moment to see how it does. Naturally, I will also post the results here when it is done (estimated end of June)

It's a bog standard CPU, dual core, and I don't know how much benefit you'll gain by overclocking. Waste of money I think.

Thanks for your input - but I would rather waste £50 now while saving £120 over an i5 which I don't need. WOT only uses one core, and will only use 2 when the new engine is released. I am POSITIVE I will see an improvement with these specs, and can always upgrade at the end of the year to the latest CPU if that proves to be a bottle neck. Like I said, I will post the results once I know.

here we go. ended on upgrading to 4690K, ASUS Z97A and 8 Gb Corsair Dominator Platinum.

Prior to upgrade:

> Processor Global Performance : 1299.00 Marks

> Cache and Memory Global Performance : 14743.00 Marks

> Memory Global Performance : 4499.70 Marks

> Video Global Performance : 1557.00 Marks

> Hard Disk Global Performance : 200.00 Marks

post upgrade:

> Processor Global Performance : 3600.00 Marks

> Cache and Memory Global Performance : 69638.00 Marks

> Memory Global Performance : 20849.36 Marks

> Video Global Performance : 4323.00 Marks

> Hard Disk Global Performance : 275.00 Marks

This is without u[grading the GPU.

FPS in WOT has risen by 35-40
