tablet to run excel and be able to write freehand in cells

Hi, I was wonder if anyone could advise me? I am looking to purchase a tablet, however I would need to run or convert excel files onto it. However I will then also need to write free hand in cells. Does anyone know if this is possible? And if so which manufacturer is the best, preference would be android or windows.

I was fine until the bit about freehand in cells. I'm not sure that can be done but willing to be proved wrong. Android, iOS have Excel compatible apps.

This google book on Excel ClickHere says you can handwrite any cell entries by using the 'Handwriting Recognition Feature' (you have to enable the feature as it is not one of the 'install on first use' type) I didn't explore any further but I'm sure if you google it you will find out more.
