Stores drop petrol price below £1

Petrol below £1 a litre has returned as supermarket Asda dropped the price of unleaded to 99.9p a litre.

The cut means a 5p a litre reduction in the price of petrol at Asda pumps, with a litre of diesel falling from 116.9p to 110.9p.

This is the first time since last December that petrol has been under £1 in the UK, with unleaded going over 120p a litre and diesel over 130p during the worst of this year's price rises.

What part of the country are you in Brigadier ? Here in deepest Hampshire (Winchester) petrol is still £1.08 ish and diesel £1.16. Hopefully our prices will drop shortly but unfortunately we don't have an Asda/Tesco locally

By ASDA dropping the price of fuel others companies will follow.
Expect £1 or under by next week.

Oh & i live in Somerset, but work in London at the moment.

I wish my Guinness and/or Aussie red Shiraz only cost 99.9p a litre...:-)

This price difference at Asda was if you subscribed to their credit card, I believe. 2p a litre discount we get by using their card. TC.

No £1/litre petrol here. The best I found was 102.9p/litre at Tesco Watford; Other stations are more expensive.

It will take a while for it to filter down to every garage may be even 7 to 10 days.
But sub £1 fuel is on it's way to use all!
