I am considering downloading Skype, must be an age thing, but i find the pricing a tad confusing.

For £1.50/month +VAT, you will be able to ring any UK 01/02 landline number at any time of day free.
This also includes the connection charge.

"This also includes the connection charge"

No it doesn't:

Pay nothing per minute
for calls to landlines within your country².

² See available countries. Only to numbers with prefix 01 and 02, connection fee and fair usage policies apply.

I have just checked my wife's account charges and it is a 3.3p connection charge. (Rounded figure).
Mind you, we are still saving a fortune by not using our Virgin Media landline phone or, using it sparingly.

Our last VM bill was £11 rental with zero charges.

One recommendation is:

Do not use Skype for 0845, 0870, 0871 and any other numbers that are not 01/02 UK numbers.
These will cost more than the landline charge since they are shared calls.
In fact I try to avoid all 0870 and 0871 numbers like the plague.
