"This site may harm your Computer"

What is going on?

Any request from Google is coming up with the above message in most options.

It is giving the message for Amazon, Argos, Tesco etc....all reputable sites.

Is there a crisis or is it a Google glitch?

  HondaMan 14:51 31 Jan 2009

No poroblem here. Sounds like you've been infected

  ened 14:58 31 Jan 2009

It is not just my computer and the message is on Google itself.

Have you tried a search?

  ened 15:06 31 Jan 2009

According to Google.

Is anybody else getting this with Google?

  dagbladet 15:27 31 Jan 2009

I'm getting it as well. It says if you wish you can still continue, but I can't see how?

a fault on that part of your System Software that checks "Site" suitability, frequently built into your AV Program

We're getting the same results on both computers (one ethernet, 1 wireless}and I'm sure the warning is from Google not my software.

My original question was : is it a glitch on behalf of Google or is there a crisis?

Some of the sites which they are warning about are taking a long time to load yet my speed tests are showing 4 meg.

Google working OK on my PC

  ened 16:08 31 Jan 2009

Must have been a problem with Google because it is alright again now.

  jimmybond 16:13 31 Jan 2009

....take it you have AVG installed?

  jimmybond 16:17 31 Jan 2009

...it's a problem with the LinkScanner component of AVG, not Google itself. If problem happens again, just disable LinkScanner from AVG options.
