return faulty item to amazon

Hi,

How do I return a faulty item to Amazon?
I've contacted their customer service (via email) and they have been unhelpful.

Just to let you know it's an external hard drive which has become faulty.

It's still under warranty.

I've only had it for about 6 months and only occasionly used it.

It's given me grief almost from the beginning.

Have you tried arranging the return from the record of the order? If you go to your past orders and find the relevant one, you can - I think - arrange to return items via their own link.

Tried you method and this is the reply:
'We're sorry. None of your orders contain items eligible for return. Please see our Returns Policy for more information.'

How do I get an RMA from them?

That's most unusual for Amazon - it's generally right on the ball.

Milton Keynes is where its return depot is based.

If you don't have any joy, which would be surprising, try the manufacturer's website.

I've phoned Amazon and they are now issuing me a refund and also a refund on my postage.

The whole issue was dealt very efficeiently and quick with very little questions asked.

Further it was a 0800 number.

Absolute brilliant service.

From now on I will most likely (if not certainly) use Amazon for many of my purchases.

I will no recommend them to family ans friends more actively.

It's not all rosy though; that's not a widely publicised number and is not (the last time that I checked) listed on the site. Hence my external link.
