Recommend a DVR writer please

Hi as the tile says,i am looking for a DVD writer,does'nt have to be Dual Layer,just a good price £60ish,i have been looking at the LiteOn LDW-851S from click here

does anyone have any views on this particular model or recommend another from personal experiance

Cheers, i know Dual Layer is the new Technology but do i need this for basic use?? i missed the Sony offer from Overclockers but didnt really like the look of it anyway.

yeah seen the NEC ND-2510,seems to be alot of people talikng about them, are they any good?

We have four of the NEC models. They do exactly as they are claimed to do and I have no complaint - except perhaps we bought them when they were quite a bit more expensive than they are now!

I have not yet one, but I will go for it at this price.

I was tempted by 8X Dual-layer Sony only 10 days ago, but it was nearly 3X the price (it was £150).

Prices of DVD writers seem to be moving again, which is good for us.

Soon you will see 12X Dual-layer...

I think a 8X Dual-layer from a first class manufacturer at £68 cannot be a bad bargain.

Two years or so ago CD-RW writers were priced well into three figures - my own TDK Cyclone 12x10x40 was listed at £189 - but now you can get maximum speed top brand models for £20 upwards.

It will be the same eventually with DVD rewriters - the technology is basically the same and there is no reason for the excessive price margins being sought by manufacturers or rebranded versions.
