Quality inkjet wanted

For occasional photo / colour printing.

I don't print often with the inkjet as I much prefer the laser printer. However, there are times when I need to print photos so want them to be of high quality.

I would prefer an A4 printer that can print to the edges (ie without a margin) and my preference would be for a HP given that the one I have at the moment I've used for almost 8 years (930C) and it has been great - the only problem is that the rollers are bad and it will take all the paper in the tray in at once.

So, any suggestions most welcome.

Thanks as always, Dio.

Canon Pixma iP 4300, or iP4500

I have an iP5200 - photos are excellent and it's also print booklets, and duplex

Thanks 100andthirty - just been reading the reviews and it seems great value at a little over £60 at Amazon. May well go for it unless anyone has something better to suggest :)

An alternative that I was looking at is the officejet pro K5400dn which is £110. Any thoughts?

If you want photo quality which is indistinguishable from a lab print, I'd go for a model with more than the basic 4 ink tanks.

I have the basic iP3000, and although photo quality is good, it's not quite as good as the prints I get back from Photobox

Agree with the recommendation.

"I'd go for a model with more than the basic 4 ink tanks".

The iP4300 has 5 tanks

Gone with the IP4500 following the many good reviews it got.

Thanks for the suggestions, Dio

Thanks to the PCWorld price promise, I got the IP4500 for £60.26 yesterday evening - ie the Amazon.co.uk price less 10% of the difference!

Let us know what you think of the quality of the photo prints.

"Let us know what you think of the quality of the photo prints."

Will do - so far only used it for printing text and a few graphics and it is excellent; will dig out a few pics to print soon and let you know.

Cheers, Dio

Excellent, especially when coupled with Canon paper - quality seems as good as that from the photo shops. Time will tell how well it may last.
