Plextor PX-800A has anybody got one

I am currently looking for a couple of new dvd writers as my current ones are starting to become problematic. I have heard great things on various sites/forums regarding Plextor dvd writers; I was wondering if anyone has got a Plextor PX-800A and if so what are your opinions/experience with it.

Plextor is an excellent brand, but you can normally get equivalents from Sony etc for less.

Ironically I use to have a TDK Velo 12x10x32 CD rewriter which was, in fact, a rebadged Plextor model of the same model name.

It had to be replaced twice by TDK (went to its Luxembourg HQ twice at its own cost) and eventually, when the third one failed, TDK gave me the latest CyClone 24x10x40...:-)

That was a rebadged Samsung model which is still in full working order.

My current DVD rewriter is a Sony GA170. It cost under £20 but, because of the linkup with NEC, Sony and NEC models are now badged as Optiarc/NEC/
