Hi all,

after a lot of thinking time and reading lots of articles I've decided on a new pc base unit. I don't want to keep upgrading constantly so have saved to get a monster of a base unit that will be at the top of the tree for a while (I hope).

I only have some basic components knowledge and was wondering if anyone can help me choose the best gaming base unit with any suggestions to improve them from the following:

1.
AMD® ATHLON® 64BIT FX55® (San Diago) 1MB, 2048 MB DDR400 PC3200, ASUS® A8N-SLI DELUXE: DUAL DDR, S-ATA, 2 x x16 VGA, 3 PCI, USB Options SIX USB 2.0 PORTS (4 REAR + 2 FRONT), SATA 200 GB HARD DISK @ 7200rpm 8mb cache, CD Writer/Combi Drive 16X DVD ROM WITH 48X CD ROM, Dvd Writer 52X 32X 52X CD WRITER, 256MB RADEON X800XL PCI Express, HIGH END ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL SOUND, 2 x 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORTS ONBOARD, 1.44MB FLOPPY DISK DRIVE, Case Stylish Silver X-Plode Case + 2 Front USB, Power Supply & Cooling 500W (Peak) Silent Dual Rail PSU with 120mm fan,
MICROSOFT® WINDOWS® XP HOME, Firewire 1 x FIREWIRE PORT ONBOARD (A8N-SLI DELUXE ONLY), Beige Logitech® Internet Keyboard + Hotkeys, Beige Logitech® Premium Optical Mouse, Warranty
1 Year Return-to-Base Warranty + 1 Year Free Collect & Return

2.
Same but with AMD® ATHLON® 64BIT X2 4800 1MB L2 Cache instead

3.
Same but with AMD® ATHLON® 64BIT FX57® (San Diago) 1MB L2 Cache (939 pin) instead

4.
Maybe the AMD ATHLON 64 BIT FX60 (Possibly out of price range, unless really worth it)

Help is very much appreciated as this is my major purchase of the year and don't want to mess it up.

Thanks
