As a very satisfied Pipex subscriber and somebody who over the years have had a few "run-ins" with BT, I sincerely hope that this is merely rumour!

more ISP's may be up for grabs, speculation that bulldog may be sold by cable& wireless

there may be more news then.

As a pipex user for nearly 2 years I'd been happy however over the last month or so every time I turn my PC on and try to connect I get 'no dial tone' and when a dial tone does establish itself I get told my password is invalid. Eventually it decides to play ball.

So...a change might not be a bad thing!

Personnaly I will be gutted to see this happen as I moved from BT to Pipex about 3 years ago. Pipex have been brilliant in that time and have had upgrades from 512kb to 2mb with no problems in that time. I used Pipex as very first ISP in about 1995 ish and they were good then. Only changed because of pricing which was a bit steep.

I also would be sad to see BT take over Pipex. I have been with Pipex for about 4 years, and fully satisfied. Not the cheapest around, but I find 100% reliable.

sunny staines pointed out that C and W may be SELLING Bulldog - it was in the City pages about a week or so ago.

Oops!, I should learn to read more carefully. Apologies to sunny staines.

A forum member in another thread commented that he had secured a price cut with Pipex after requesting a MAC Code when they had asked him why he wanted to leave?

So my son tried this last night and was immediately offered a £5 monthly price cut to £17.99, speed up from 1MB to 2MB and a 30GB monthly cap...:-)

Snapped up...:-))

I've had a Pipex PAYG account for 10 years and my son has been with the ISP on BB for several years - apart from the cost he's always been very happy.
