Saw this offer for 100 sheets of A4 Epson photo paper 102gsm for £6.98. Is 102gsm thick enough for printing photos ?

No, not really. I will not be a lot thicker than ordinary copy paper which is usually about 80 - 90 gsm

It will be ok, but not very heavy. What sort of surface does it have?

Go with the advice of the expert!

It's thick enough for printing photos but whether it's thick enough to hand them round without flopping is another matter...:-)

I am familiar with that paper.

It has a good photo surface but is very flimsy and not at all suitable for what you would consider to be a "photograph".

It is designed for, as it says in the description " Ideal for business graphics, flyers and posters".

I think you would be disappointed in using it for anything else.

That 210gsm is the lightest that you would want to use and would be ok if mounted and or framed.

For proper photos 280gsm or more.

I guess it depends on your needs, but I think the quality is reflected in the price, Epson paper usually has a good quality coating.

I use Permajet click here Excellent quality but about 4 x the price or Ilford click here for home printing

My printer has a limit of 250gsm (Epson C46) so I'll probably go for something around 210gsm then. I probably will be printing a mix of fun posters and photos so I guess 210 gsm is somewhere in between for both purpose. I have shortlisted my option between the Epson paper and Choice Stationery paper. Thanks for the usual quick response from everyone.
