PCWorld Compaq for £399 any good?

Not that I'm dithering, but I'm still to get a desktop and see that PCWorld are offering a Compaq Presario SR5315 + 20" Widescreen TFT Monitor, Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 Processor
(1.6GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB Cache, 2GB Memory, 360GB Hard Drive for £399 saving £150 off the normal price.

Still to be used for a bit of surfing, storing photos and for kids to watch videos on.

Surely it must be good if it normally costs £549 but now squeezes into our £400 budget.

Any thoughts welcome

The graphics and processor are much better in the Dells.

spot the braincell, I'd go for jimv7's £170-180 PC & get a monitor from eleswhere. Depending on how much you want to spend, you can get a reasonably good quality 19" for £100 click here (for free del click here), 20" for £115 click here, or 22" for £140 click here.

lisa02, I feel the Dells are not such good value here - compared to the Bigpockets PC jimv7 linked too anyway. The OP doesn't really need a better processor or graphics for the intended use. For best value, the Dell Vostros click here are usually more preferable. G

The price of PC's in PCWorld has fallen in the last few years.
If your after a budget range pc then it's a good deal.
If your after a gaming pc then no.
