Hi,
Is it just me going crazy?
Page 208 of my PC Advisor (Spring, Feb2004 issue) shows a tantalising array of budget PCs to tempt me into purchase.. however..

1.This info doesn't appear to match the website info.. No.1 Budget PC is the Best Price Poweroid 2301 in my magazine. Can anyone explain?

2.This Poweroid 2301 model cannot be located on their website either [click here]

3.All I want to do is check the "jaw dropping" "pair of 120GB Western Digitals" isn't just an annoying typo.to frustrate me (and my wife!). This really is TOO GOOD to be true isn't it? Boo hoo.

Thanks in anticipation - you guys (and gals, sorry!)

The one in PCA is 2301. It isn't a typo - the specs are not the same as the 2013 and the photos show totally different machines.

The magazine article states "2301" not 2013 or any other combination of digits.

I am starting to suspect I was correct in the first instance and this PC doesn't exist and it's spec of a "pair of 120Gb Western Digitals" was also in the realms of fantasy.

But if there is anyone out there more enlightened - I'm prepared to eat humble.

The 2301 does indeed exist and is a new model. It hasn't made it to the PCAdvisor or click here sites as yet.

I am glad to say however that the 2301 is available for purchase, it does indeed have the specs and price printed in the magazine, and it can be ordered (by phone only at this time) with a credit or debit card.

jinjagoliath, I forgot to add: The Poweroid 2301 does indeed come with the 2 x 120 GB 7200 rpm 8 MB cache hard disks :-)

JAN-BOY, sorry I didn't reply yesterday, I leave at 6 PM on Saturdays.

Thank you - for restoring my faith AND sanity in one foul swoop.

Will check out info by phone, but would love to see the details on your site.

As Gandalf found, some similar numbers (2301 .. 2013) give the impression of somekind of error.

Good to hear from you anyway - and thanks.

JG

PS

Humble pie always tastes better warm.

Good of Poweroid to respond. If only others would appear on this site to clarify confusion and "criticisms" from time to time. We are all aware of those companies which have responded but the silent ones are worrying.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
