Hi guys,

Looks like a decent machine for the money.

I'm a little confused over the difference between the Pentium 4 524 and 631 processors - both seem to be 3Ghz, but the 631 is more expensive. Can anyone tell me why this, and whether it's worth spending £70+ extra on the 631?

It's probably that the 631 has hyperthreading which can 'look' like two CPUs given the right software.

The 631 has 2Mb of L2 cache and 800MHz FSB, versus the 524's 1Mb and 533MHz FSB.
Although both support hyperthreading technology, the 631 has hyperthreading technology 2, which I guess is newer and performs better, though I don't know by how much. Not sure that I would want to spend 70 extra for the 631 unless I was into gaming.
