Noise from an Acer One.

Guys I bought a 150l running Linux, 1gb ram and a 120gb HDD. I'm shocked at the noise of the fans and hdd seek noise which seems significant too.

Playing music and video is awful for the fan noise. It actually sounds (the fans) louder than this desktop I'm using now.

Anyone care to share whether they have the same problem?

If you google 'acer one 150 fan noise' you'll find it's not an uncommon problem.

I took it back and got a refund...

I really like the look of these machines and have seen the a110-ab which is Linux, 1GB of RAM and 16GB SSD. I'm wondering would being minus a harddrive give enough of a noise reduction...?

Thanks for your help.

Just bought an Acer Aspire 5735 4g ram 160 hd & that is very quiet.

We've two Asus netbooks with ssd's and apart from the very occasional whisper of the fan, since there are no other moving parts, they're totally silent.

It gives me confidence!

I went through all the netbooks available and I preferred the Acer line up by far...

I've took the plunge on the Acer One A110-AB Linux
1GB RAM 16GB SSD click here £229

It's currently at the packing stage on, so here's to hoping theY send it Special Delivery or something. Can anyone confirm if that's what they do with expensive items?

Oops, Realist - I see you said Asus and not Acer.
