No Access for Apple Mac

Can anyone please tell me why Microsoft's Access database is not available in any form on a Mac?

I have several databases which I have created for various purposes using Access which I find reasonably easy to use and which fulfils all of my needs. However, having changes to an iMac, I now find myself having to use windows vis Parallels Desktop to use them.

Can anyone please tell me why this excellent product is not available on a Mac. Is it a conflict in programming language or just Microsoft's marketing decision?

Microsoft's marketing decision I should think and it's the same for MS Publisher which isn't available for Mac.

Many thanks, Pine Man. I must admit that I hadn't noticed the absence of Publisher, a program which I never used anyway, preferring instead, Serif's Page Plus 8.

I Googled Mac apps compatible with Access files and came up with this

click here may be others if you need to read Access files on a Mac.
