Having just watched the brilliant first of the BBC Planet Earth series and seeing a preview of next weeks episode, I've decided to buy a DVD recorder to record them. What are the best ones you can buy for about £150?
I have just switched from a recorder without HDD to one with a 160Gb HDD. I much prefer the HDD machine - much quicker to start recording just when you need to and not to have to bother about whether the DVDRW you have used 10 times before will be OK the 11th time (this was my biggest problem with the first machine). So, IMHO, go for a recorder with HDD.
I have a Cyberhome DVR 1600, £68 from Asda. It is a superb machine in every way. It will play anything (MP3, slide shows, Wav etc., etc.), has more features than you would ever use in a lifetime and is easy to hack for any region. No point in spending anything more. I have had Cyberhome DVD players before and they are built like tanks as well as being reliable.
