Medion 40820 Digital Camera

  HAPPYHIBEE 12:45 20 Mar 2004

I bought a MD 40820 Digital Camera the other week and it goes through batteries like nothing on earth. example= last night I put 2xduracell AAA in the only thing I did was delete about 10 photos then looked through the manual at the settings and went through each one individually on the camera, shut the camera down and opened it up 3 times, took 1 photo, left it overnight opened it this morning and it tells me the batteries are needing replacing. Surely this should not happen and the batteries should last a lot longer than that or am I missing something that should be done.

You need to use NiMH rechargeable batteries of at least 1800MH capacity upwards.

You should be able to buy a "fast" charger (around two to two-and-a-half hours) with a set of four suitable batteries for around £12 to £15.

The very latest batteries are now up to 2300MH but they are not cheap - the price will fall as even better ones come out.

Just noticed that you use AAA batteries - the same applies but, being smaller, they are unlikely to last as long as AAs.

Try click here they do chargers and batteries very cheaply, as Stuartli said go for the biggest capacity you can. Having said that, although digital cameras go through batteries like water and you're camera is using AAA instead of the larger AA it still shouldn't use them that quick. Are you sure that the batteries were new? With my camera it takes 4 AA rechargables and lasts for about 50 shots. I just carry a spare set of batteries.

Look at the 7dayshop webite and click on specials, they are doing a charger with 8 AA and 4 AAA for only £16.99 or of course you can buy them seperately.

Re battery usage, my Minolta Dimage E203 takes two AA batteries (I use both 1600 and 1800MH NiMH rechargeables) and I can get at least 80-100 shots using medium (1.3MP) resolution, flash where needed and as necessary screen viewing.

But if I use AA akalines in an emergency, as you say, they are flattened in no time as you would expect...

Maplins click here you can get a charger 8 AA (2300mAh) & 4 AAA (800mAh) for £19.99

..and there lies the reason for the short AAA batteries' useful life - approximately a third of the capacity of the AA type.
