Our HP family desktop has given up after 5 years of working as near perfect as I've ever seen a windows machine do.

As such we're looking for a new pc. What does everyone think of click here ?

have also looked at click here and click here

Thanks :)

The HP looks okay, but don't forget to add the price of a monitor.

Visit to PC World might be a better bet though.

We don't need a monitor, nothing wrong with our 18" and we've ruled out the HP one for not having a graphics card now :-)

Novatech? Someone I know at uni is having an utterly useless service for them to deliver a laptop :-(

Dad's managed to get into HP recovery by pressing F10, so we may be able to salvage our old PC yet...

though talking to other people including Chris, we're all coming to the same conclusion, especially given that it's taking a long time to boot back up that the hard drive is going :(

Also it's still trying to reboot. Blank screen, with pointer visible since 6:44PM (UK Time). And it took 30 Minutes to clear the screen when Dad pressed finish after XP Reinstalled.

It's just started booting XP up apparently...

It's Loaded XP :D Though is our hard drive on the way out? :-/

(the original error was that the file ntoskrnl.exe was either missing or corrupt (I checked via linux that it was there, so must have been corrupt, and I couldn't replace it with a non-corrupt version))

Just been configuring stuff on Evesham's website and wondered what everyone thought of this : -

Intel® Core 2 Duo processor E6300 (1.86GHz)
Windows® XP Media Center Edition
1GB DDR2 RAM
250GB SATA Hard Drive with 8MB Cache
256MB DDR ATI Radeon X1300 PCI-Express graphics
Windows® Vista Premium Ready
Microsoft® Works 8.0
Roxio Easy Media Creator 7
Bullguard Antivirus Software & 30 Days Updates

For £539.64

OR

£499.65 without graphics card (though that does mean it isn't vista capable anymore)

Other than the processor, would I be right in saying that the acer is still better? :?
