A laptop to take with me overseas to work - ideas please ?

I'm intending to work abroad in a few months and I need to buy a laptop to take. My general spec is : - something lightweight so my luggage allowance wont be affected too much - capacity for large file storage of documents and film storage - a decent processor to stream, and a monitor large enough to watch - built in webcam

The drawback ? No more than £500 (okay maybe slightly over)

I know there are some good articles on this site, but it anyone has personal recommendations please advise.

Dont worry about luggage allowance, anything as valuble as this should be carried as hand luggage.

You are likely to get more brownie points from your fellow workers if you have a battered old quality machine than a shiny new one that they are jealous of.

So, buy yourself a 3 year old Mac and distress it a little.

They'll think you're really cool and you'll have a first class machine that is unlikely to be nicked!
