iplate has speeded up internet

Have fitted one of these iplate devices from BT on my phone line. Only £14 with post and vat, so worth trying. I live a long way from the exchange so although am on 2Mb broadband I can only connect at around 950K or less. Since fitting devices, which takes only a couple of minutes I now connect at 1700K. Downloads are almost double the speed and hi quality streaming video from BBC iplayer doesn't miss a beat.

'However, if you have a recently installed line it won’t have a ringer wire so an iPlate would be useless. Similarly a newly installed socket with the BT Openrech logo on it or a Service Specific Front Plate (SSFP) which separates the broadband and phone signals won’t be affected by an iPlate'..apart from that, good call.

Yes, this has been around for a few months now.

If you have a slow/dodgy ADSL Max or ADSL2+ connection, do it yourself for free by following this simple guide click here. May also work on a standard ADSL connection. G
