Yeah, all seems good but why it's got 2 8500's I have no idea!

Save up a bit, rip them 8500's out and get ONE 8800gt! It will be much better!

You would get a few bob for the 8500's on e-bay!

Thats my opinion anyway.

  Gamer555 16:41 26 Nov 2007

Oh, have you got Vista 64 bit? If not, you will only see 2gb's of that RAM because you have a gig worth of memory in them graphics cards. Vista 32bit only see's 3gb of memory including graphics cards.

Sorry! lol. But you asked what we thought.

PS. Great CPU, Fast RAM, good MOBO, good HD, good PSU and case!

  liquidstool 17:09 26 Nov 2007

yep, got 64, was in a bit of a dilemma about that but there seemed little point in getting 4gb ram when it would be a waste of time. As per the 8500, as far as i know it's not two cards, it's a 1gb 8500gt, according to specs not hyper memory or that sort of thing but a genuine 1gb ddr3 memory.

  Gamer555 17:21 26 Nov 2007

SLI means 2 graphics cards working together. You have 2 512mb cards. Together = 1gb. I dont think there is such thing as a one 1gb 8500 but I may be wrong???

  liquidstool 19:49 26 Nov 2007

well, i still think it's a 1gb graphics card - want proof? look here: click here

of course, the sli bit IS a conumdrum, i'll let you all know what it actually is when i take the delivery in a few days :)

Well, I'm wrong! lol. Enjoy your card!

In your first post you say that it is a Nvidia 8500gt 1gb SLI. From what I read, you SHOULD be getting 2 1GB cards! WOW!

Which company did you get the system from? Arbico by any chance?

i don't think i'll be getting 2x1gb cards - be nice if i did though!

check link to the pc in the above post :)

Everything about that specification is excellent....

..EXCEPT for the graphics card(s).

Take a look at click here

You will find that the 8500GT with 512MB of memory is on par with the old 6600GT with 128MB memory.

having 1024MB on one of those wont make a jot of difference......the card is simply not powerful enough to run at the settings where large amounts of video ram matters.

And if it's 2x8500GT 512MBs in SLI the performance at best will still be below that of one 8600GTS.

That's barely adequate for today's headline games.

My 7900GT is way faster than 2x8500GTs and struggles to run Crysis, for example,at decent settings.

That's not to say the pc is poor value.....it isn't.

But you will need to upgrade those graphics cards very soon.....around another £180+ for an 8800GT at the very least.

In all a fabulous basic pc but in spite of SLI, not the gaming demon the link you provide would suggest.

well, as i'm not a hardcore gaming nut i guess i've got a good pc for the cash i'm using an old nvidia 256mb 6200 at mo, that handles even call of duty 2 and farcry well enough for my aging eyes! i use a pc for mainly video editing, internet and lots of music work so i guess it should handle that lot no problem - i've got no intention of upgrading the card for at least 18 months, next on my list is a 32" widescreen monitor - so much better to see the lovely ladies lol.

thx 4 the comments everyone.
