I'm looking to upgrade my hardrive in my Compaq Presario 900 AMD1500+ laptop, with the aim of:

Increased storage and performance......

The current drive is a:

Toshiba MK-2018GAP

20GB

2.5"

2MB BUFFER

100X69.85X9.5MM

4200 RPM

ULTRA ATA/100

This is all the info I have on the drive, im looking to spend around 70/80 but will go higher if worth it.......

Im not sure what to look for at a technical point of view, things such as the connection and will it be compatible with laptop etc..

Any help would be great........

Unless you have the Windows XP CD.

If you have a firewire port, why not consider an external HDD

If you do decide to upgrade have a look in maplins and see if you could use the old drive i a caddy so you could plug in the old one as a usb portable drive you can with desktop drives just food for thought and good luck. Let us know how you got on.
