Guess the price

  Stuartli 17:30 04 Jul 2006

Dabs has just sent its regular newsletter containing an offer of an ADSL modem which will handle up to 8MB and three filters/splitters.

You won't believe the price...:-)

I forgot my guess....... I was gonna say a fiver!

Alternatively, you could go to Maplins and pay £6.99 for one filter.

Stuartli I know very little (in fact nothing!) about ADSL - I'm connected via cable.

What, apart from the modem, would I need to do to make an ADSL broadband connection?

Thanks in advance.

an adsl bb isp account and a BT line.

SG Atlantis® that was quick, thanks. I can't type that fast.

So it's just a question of plugging in and running an ISP CD of choice?

Incredible value when you consider that a filter alone usually retails for about £2 and it has 3 supplied with it.

  SG Atlantis® 18:36 04 Jul 2006

yeah, but your line has to be provisioned which takes a week or so... Sign up with a provider- some let ya have a one month contract others make ya take the service for a minimum of one year.

Plus you need to check what your bt line can get... it's not equal like cable is. My neighbour is stuck on 1 meg where I get upto 4 meg.

A cheap and nasty one in most cases at that price - expect to pay at least £6 or £7 upwards for a quality one.
