graphics cards

what cards support directx9 i want to buy a new card but am not sure what to buy i am not a big gamer at all.please help.

All the Fx cards and Ati Radeon 9500 onwards.

since there aren't even any games out that require a directx 9 compatible card (i.e. will not run on any of the geforce 4 series or radeon 9000 and below). Since you say you are not a big gamer i would point you in the direction of the radeon 9200 or geforce 5200 (both are direct x 9 cards), expect to pay around £60 - £80, depending on version and the manufactor. However if you can find an older geforce 4 ti card for around this price it is a much better performer as is the radoen 8500.

I have just purchased a geforce4 mx440.
after i have installed it the computer won't power up.when i put my old rage pro back in it powers up ok.
Can any body help me with this. Have i got a duff card.

Start a new thread in the help room for this topic.

Check the card is seated properly and that you have a minimum power supply of 350W. You may also need a BIOS update.
