Hi, ive got/ordered
Core 2duo E6750,
Asus P5K Intel P35
2gb PC-6400 DDR2 RAM
Samsung 22" Monitor

and i was looking at getting
NVIDIA 320MB BFG 8800GTS click here
for about £200.

Is this sufficient, since im going to use for some games & television, with a 22" monitor. Should i get the 640MB version? Does anyone have any buying recommendations?
Thanks

If it was me I'd go for the 640, but not the 768mb...there's quite a bit of price difference, but not in performance apparently.

I'm on the 768mb version at its a stonking beast of a Card!

you can't buy a 768mb GTS because no-one makes one. Only the GTX has this memory. Secondly there is no difference in the gpu between the 320 and 640mb. Thirdly, Tom's hardware concluded there was no real performance diffences between the cards and you were better off saving your money.

Arthur, I didn't mean to suggest there was a 768 mb 8800 GTS. U are correct it is the GTX, but I think u are splitting hairs. Recent PCA review concluded there was no real difference btwn the 640 GTS and the 768 GTX & that the 640 was the better buy.

I wasn't splitting hairs, just trying to be accurate. In relation to the performance differences, THG averaged out the gaming performances across what are considered demanding games (such as Oblivion - demanding on the hardware that is!) and although there was no difference between the GTS flavours (this was at different settings of resolution, AA and AF) and the GTX averaged out around 20% faster. Whether you consider 20% to be 'no real difference' or not, a lot of gamers would kill for that kind of increase in FPS.

but at what expense? The 768 GTX is considerably more in cost when compared to the 640 GTS, but does this additional cost be justified. It's a personal choice afterall, and possibly based on what we read & how authoritative we consider the source of information. Nice rattling sabres with u.

i would go for the 640mb for use at high resolutions the monitor will acheive
