Does anybody know of a very cheap but quite decent graphics card? I was thinking of a connect 3d ati radeon 9200se 128mb as it is only £28 at my local computer shop. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

What do you want to do with the card?

Well you will get what you pay for, and not a lot to be honest. If you are looking to play any games of a newish nature then i would go for a ATI 9600 pro. Its a decent card at a very good price. You may also fancy somthing less heres a link of the cards you can get.

To answer your question belador, i want to play newish games but am not after blistering frame rates at top quality settings. I am quite happy to knock the resolution or detail down on newer games to get a playable frame rate.

The card i have got at the moment is a geforce mx440 and i can play doom 3 on it at low quality settings but from time to time i get a bit of slowdown.

So I am just looking for a slightly better card than the one I have got.

I forgot to say my current graphics card is 64mb

I play Call of Duty on my laptop which has an ATI Radeon Mobility 9800 with 64MB RAM, so if my laptop copes, anything with better stats than that should see you ok.

Best two options are

9600 or 5700 cards, around £100 and will perform ok

or

9800 pro 5900, around £130 and will play very well indeed, personally i would chose onr of these cards as they will last you a good while and you can enjoy the qualitity of the games you play..

I got a geforce fx5200 with 129mb memory. I am gonna wait to get a better one. This was just to be going on with for the time being. It only cost £39. It will do for now. It seems to play the games I want to play quite well.

I was wanting to update my graphics card an ATI Raedon 8500LE 64Mb, the thing is its AGP 4x and all the ones out appear to be AGP 8x, does this mean ill need to change motherboard first of all?
