Give a cheque and get same cover as a credit card?

Looking around for a new PC I came across this statement from click here Look under credit cards.

Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the case, as it's something I didn't know could happen.

Useful as well, if correct, for paying a company that charges a cc percentage on purchases. TC.

credit card cheque has no protection as credit card, this problem has been reported widely

really cannot understand why a respectful seller cannot accept credit card as payment method, if it is the cost (bank charge upto 3%), they can transfered to customers (many compaines do)

as usual, I find it out on the forum. They say you live and learn! Thanks guys for putting me right.

What a shame it is though, that a genuine payment cheque from a prominent credit card company doesn't carry the same consumer protection as the card. Guess I'll have to do a normal cheque should I do business with them. I like to help the little firms if I can, but payment protection for an expensive product figures high with me, especially in this day and age. TC.
