How powerful is a geforce 4800 ti gfx card is it better than a radeon 9550. Or does anyone know a good website that lists how good cards are against other cards. I cant find any good sites at all.

4800ti was a top range card when it came out but is outdated now. the 6800gt is the best mid range card or better still a 6800 or 6800gt if you can afford them. these cards support the new shaders etc used in new games.

I too am considering an economy graphics card purchase. The old GeForce cards are two DirectX generations behind todays cards so don't waste your money.
At the moment I think the best £50 purchase is a Radeon 9550xt; seriously faster than the 9550 vanilla and virtually a 9600pro.
For £75 you could go for a 9600xt, or in Nvidia country, for a bit more, the plain 6600.
If you have £120 to spend there is little dispute that the 6600gt is the absolute dogs doodahs.
No need to spend more unless you're obsessive about maximising framerates details, effects, antailiasing, anisotropic filtering etc. zzzzzzzz
