Free laptop - anyone taken up the offer yet?

  lisa02 12:30 22 Jul 2007

I'm referring to the £300 laptop or equivalent discounted of a more expensive lappy at DSG stores if you take up Orange BB for 2 yrs.

Anyone went for the deal?

Carphone Warehouse are doing something similar.

So I see.

I'm in the market again and looks like the right time to get BB.

Wonder what the ISPs will do...

other ISPs will do...

Two years is a LONG time for a contract !

  lisa02 13:47 22 Jul 2007

£14.99 x 24 = 359 quid.

My line of thought is the cost of the promotion is on par with the cost of BB.

Effectively meaning the BB is free.

I'm with you on this, on paper you can't lose.

If it was TalkTalk yes - AOL.......:-((

pcworld/orange £337 for 24 months 2Mb speed and download limit 2Gb per month with £300 laptop quarter the memory of AOL offer half the storage and slower processor.

AOL/carphone warehouse £480 for 24 months but delivery of laptop not until september and at current technology advance could be worth £50/£100 less than stated price of £500 . its a dell laptop.
up to 8Mb BB and 40Gb download limit.

if you need a laptop both seem competetive AOL for heavy user and pcworld/orange for light user.

Plusnet deal at £9.99 for 8Mb BB approx £250 for 24 months.

If I recall correctly AOL are also including a Netgear wireless router with the offer. So the offer is actually even better value than the Orange offer in my view.

Further if you have the router (from AOL, I'm with them) it might be worthwhile to ask for a discount instead of the router when it comes to renewal!

Hope this helps someone.

From personal experience of Orange Broadband I feel this link is worth a read if you are considering tying yourself to them for 24 months.
I also feel that even a free laptop is not worth considering if it means having to deal with their Technical helpline or Customer services line.
