Family Tree Software - Which is best?

I have decided to start looking up my family tree and thought it would be useful to input the information found into some software programme which will make up the tree for me as I go. Can anybody recommend a good programme. I don't want to have to keep changing the programme so it would be good to get the best one at the outset. Also, have pca run an article on family tree making, or should I call it genaelogy?? Thanks for any advice received.

Reading some reviews recently, and the Historian package came out very well.

I had some very good links for family history finds, but lost all these on recent upgrading. Will I never learn to back-up my material.(;o(

I have used Family Tree Maker for the last three years and find it excellent. See click here for more information.

click here is an excellent web site for beginners and advanced family history researchers.

Good luck - family history is an addictive hobby.
