Hey Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone can help, just after some advice. I am looking for a good External 500gb HD, what should I be looking for? I see they have come down loads and pick one up for under £100!!
Also after some Cd & Dvd to back up my information. Which are the best value to get going on price and performance??
Any advice will be gratefull thanks

As prices change all the time it may be best if you make a decision based on your own research.

I would never rely on CD's and most certainly not DVDs for storing backups or anything else of importance unless I had another backup as backup.

I've just bought some Western Digital "My Book" external hard drives. Ebuyer are doing deals on them as are Amazon and a number of other suppliers. Best to shop around. Very pleased with the drives which were much less than £100 for the 500GB ones.

You'd possibly be better off with 2 smaller drives.

I use mine alternately. A WD 5000 and an old HDD, from my last PC, in a £11 Enclosure. Gives you a level of redundancy that a Single Back-up cannot.
